Today, Yahoo news did a feature on the northward spread of Palmer amaranth. The plant is common in eastern Kansas. Its presence was one of many that signaled end-of-summer, and brought with it long-haired charm. Here are two paintings from 2004-2005, both from the edge of Pendleton's farm in Douglas County.
