Selected studio paintings, New Mexico, 2024–2025. Exploring the phenomenon of Wilderness.
100 Views of the Dragonfly Trail to be installed as part of the permanent collection of Western New Mexico University. This project has become the focus for redefining WNMU's class on Creativity. Begun during the shut-down period of COVID-19 epidemic, these 100 16"x16" paintings depict scenes from past, present, and future along a 3.1 mile trail loop outside of Silver City, New Mexico. The trail leads through dry uplands and along Twin Sisters Creek, past ancient petroglyphs. This mini heroes-journey, along a trail maintained by the National Forest Service, is emblematic of rural resilience as it provides easy access to the outdoors, history, geological wonders and community. It serves as an on-going resource for well-being available to all. An proposed installation view is seen below along with selected images from the series.
Time to be installed as part of the permanent collection of the Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque through the Art in Public Places Program of New Mexico
